I have been finalising my MTG hobby for a while now, because I’ve enjoyed the game and the social interactions with my friends, but as I focus on my Ascension, the latter becomes less pertinent (sombre but not saddening).
So, with a final spurt of indulgence, I have ordered and will craft a final Commander Deck- Maiar Triumvirate, which is led by Sauron, with both Saruman and Gandalf acting as his left and right counsel.
Basically, if Sauron were to establish a benevolent rule over Middle Earth aided by The 2 greatest wizards of Middle Earth. The deck is Grixos colours, which is significant if you understand anything about Magic the Gathering.
At first I only wanted to buy a “Bilbo Birthday Celebrant” for memes, but eventually I was _tempted_ to build a more established Lord of the Rings deck, but representing those characters closest to me.
True, a Tom Bombadil deck would have made sense too, but I do love playing the Villain, or Arch Enemy, so I guess that is how I choose to identify at the end of the day. I wonder if a life with Goldberry would have been worth it…
I guess we were to get psychoanalytical, I am choosing to interact with the Story instead of being a Storyteller… my goodness, is this proof that I have managed to change from my old self? Escaping my own shadow… hahhaha!!!
The commander for my Benevolent Tyranny Deck, aka “The Greater Good”, is of course Sauron.
And for those who are wondering: Yes, I submitted to my love of the narrative, and I also purchased The One Ring…
Gotta end on a bang, not a whimper!
