You know what’s better than 1 ability in MTG? ALL the Abilities! 😏😏😏😏😏
Yes, I recall learning to play Magic the Gathering in University, which was surreal as I was a Yugioh Player, and a good one at that. But MTG has grown on me over the years, despite never reaching that same level of obsession that accompanied my yugioh playing history (I grew older, that’s all).
But it was for my birthday that a friend gave me the deck which would become my signature style: Slivers, the cancer of MtG. Since I liked having all powers, they thought it’d be funny if I had access to virtually all powers, and since then, the desk has become my signature among friendly groups/games (I don’t play outside of my social circles).
However, I am not the only person to have played slivers, and I will not be the last, but I have discovered over the years that I am unique in my love of sliver ‘purity’: unlike almost every other player I know, I enjoy the concept of playing them as a deck of lands and slivers, not bothering with mana rocks etc. In doing so, I have always had an enjoyable experience maximising the synergy of my creatures.
Yes, I do have other spells to aid in my sliver Greater Co-Prosperity Sphere, but for the most part, adding powers to my collective has become something of a connoisseur approach rather than anything else, and that’s the way I like it.
But recently, I found that I wanted to incorporate a little more, and thus, I decided that coincidentally, I had great natural synergy with the Maze’s End Gate cards- my MTG lore is lacking so this may be rong, but the Gates refer to guilds of Ravnica, each a dual combination of the 5 colour factions available, not counting colourless, thus we have 10 combinations. Not only does this help me, as someone who requires a delicate balance of mana colours, but also because I have a deck searching ability for land, as well as an alternative win condition. Truly, this is the greatest partnership since Green Eggs and Ham!
